BitScope Application Library

BitLib Application Programming Library

BitScope Application Programming Library

BitScope has always been programmable but now there is an easier way to write BitScope software applications.

BitLib is a dynamic runtime library that takes care of all the low level details of BitScope programming. To get you started it comes with three new BitScope software applications:

They're all BitLib based and include source so you can see exactly how they work. You can also modify them to suit your needs or use them as a starting point for your own BitScope software.

BitLib is also ideal when integrating BitScope with third party software tools. The DAQ spreadsheet provides one example but we'll be releasing a number of others over the coming months based on your feedback. Email us at projects and send us your requests.

DDR Reset

DSO 1.3 Offline Replay and Display Export

This major release introduces new features for data sharing and analysis, especially useful in collaborative or educational environments.

It also includes user interface improvements such as auto range, normalize, input offset control and channel calibration.

And there are many small changes like context menus for fast parameter entry, live waveform generator previews, intelligent parameter "toggle on click" as well as various small bug fixes.

However the most significant new feature is Offline Replay.

It is now possible to use BitScope DSO on a PC without a BitScope.

This means you can replay, inspect and analyse waveforms, logic and spectra previously captured with BitScope, or otherwise synthesized, on a PC which has no BitScope connected.

The DSO is able to do this because DDR can now effectively emulate any BitScope.

By sharing DDR files with colleagues, students or customers you can now communicate precise analyses and flexible reference information for comparison with their own test results.

The second new and related feature is Display Export.

With the click of a button you can now save the DSO display to a file for use with Word or other documents, the web or sent as email attachments. It is even possible to replay a DDR file and save the displays derived from it, all without a BitScope connected.

Download this release to try it on your own PC. It's free of charge.

Visit the Offline Replay DSO Tutorial page to find a range of interesting example files.

As always, please email us any feedback you have about this software.

DDR Reset

DSO 1.2.1 inc. DDR + WIDE Production Release

After extensive testing, feedback and bugfixes, the DDR + WIDE release is now available as a standard feature of BitScope DSO.

Our thanks go to all our dedicated users who reported some subtle bugs and made various suggestions. Lots of small improvements have been made in response to your feedback such as pop-up menus on the timebase and zoom controls, "greyed" buttons when the end of a range is reached and user selectable sample rates.

We've fixed a range of bugs including one affecting concurrent waveform generation and capture on some BS3xx model scopes as well as some small display glitches.

The DSO Data Recorder and WIDE display engine are now both standard features of the DSO with this release and a complete DDR Manual is also now available as part of the DSO online guide.

Download the production release here and feel free to email us your feedback !

BitScope DSO Data Recorder

DSO Data Recorder (DDR + WIDE)

For anyone looking for a powerful captured data export capability check out this latest release !

The BitScope DSO now includes a new DSO Data Recorder (aka DDR) capable of recording and replaying any combination of analog and logic channels selected for display by the DSO.

Of considerable benefit to anyone using third-party analysis software or spreadsheets, DDR uses the ubiquitous CSV file format for seamless data transfer between different software applications and computing platforms.

Also included in this release is Waveform Intuitive Display Engine (aka WIDE) designed for speed and "intuitive" waveform and logic displays. For further details see the release notes.

BitScope DSO 1.2 Online Guide

2005-05-25

BitScope DSO 1.2 Online Guide

The brand new BitScope DSO 1.2 Online Guide is now published.

This all new guide is a comprehensive online reference to the BitScope DSO software with numerous examples showing how to get the very best results from your BitScope.

Learn how to use the built-in waveform generator for transfer function analysis or the cursors to measure slew rates. Or maybe you're working with very low level signals and need to know how to optimize your waveform resolution. It's all here.

USB BitScope Installation Guide

Most people are unlikely to need this because installation is automatic and this document and the USB drivers are on the BitScope CD-ROM.

However if don't have a USB BitScope but want to learn about USB driver installation or USB troubleshooting under Windows, grab a copy here.

If you use BitScope with Linux then this stuff is irrelevant :-)

BitScope DSO 1.1 Online User Guide

The BitScope DSO 1.1 Online Guide is now available.

The guide is designed as an online quick reference and introduction to the main features of this latest version of the BitScope DSO. New screenshots and examples have been created using the SYDNEY BitScope so you can try them out yourself even if you don't have your own BitScope.

The new features of this software are documented which in addition to the Spectrum Analyzer includes time and frequency measurement cursors and new on-screen information data displays. Check it out.

BitScope Spectrum Analyzer

2003-12-23

BitScope Spectrum Analyzer

BitScope DSO now includes a new Integrated Spectrum Analyzer !

You can now view waveform magnitude and phase spectra live on-screen at the click of a button. It is DFT based so it's fast and works just fine with periodic or one-shot waveforms. There are no complicated parameters to adjust - it's fully automatic based on the prevailing DSO settings !

Grab a copy of DSO 1.1 to try it out yourself on SYDNEY or your own BitScope and don't forget to check back to the DSO Release Notes for news of the latest updates.
